This is the webpage for Woodwind and Brasswind. Located in South Bend, IN they are one of the largest online retailers of musical instruments and supplies. I recommend subscribing to their emails for discount savings on reeds and other goods! Don't be afraid of their "used" merchandise either. I have purchased many mouthpieces and even some instruments this way.

Steve Weiss Music is a percussion answer to the Woodwind and Brasswind. They have a comprehensive percussion inventory and even some great used/demo gear.

This is the website of Mike Hammer, one of the most respected names in woodwind repair on the east coast. If your instrument needs the best treatment, look no further. He also sells many used instruments, as well as new.

USA Horn is located in Union, NJ but has an impressive stock of new and used instruments, mostly woodwinds. I like that they also include archived pictures of sold instruments, to see what some older instruments look like.

Dillon Music is located in Woodbridge, NJ and is a brass answer to USA Horn. They are well known for brass repair services and have a large amount of used and new instruments to choose from.

Morrie Backun has been making outstanding quality barrels, bells, mouthpieces, and even clarinets since 2000. I personally enjoy playing on their barrels and think they have made some exceptional clarinet products.

Eble Music Store has a fantastically organized website for sheet music for the instrumentalist. It has solos, duets, small ensembles, and more all clearly organized and easily searched. Highly recommend everyone search for something to play here!

Curt Altarac, a disciple of Steve Goodson, has been making quality repair items for years now through Music Medic. They have great intro repair kits, tutorials, and professional tools and supplies for the experienced technician. They are gaining more notoriety for their Roo Pads, which are fantastic woodwind pads that last a long time, reduce key noise, and are easy to install. The best part is, they always ship for free to US and Canada.

Band and Jazz Resources

This is the link to the 'Education' tab of the US Army Field Band. Check out their videos section. There are some top notch musicians explaining and demonstrating basic to professional level skills in many aspects of music. The audio section gives streaming access to all of the free educational CDs produced.

An excellent source for free jazz band music. Easy, Medium, and Difficult charts with PDFs, optional written solos, and audio samples. Most charts seem to be medium or difficult. Geared mostly to middle school-professional level groups. Ranges are typically labeled.

This is an amazing resource for anyone interested in learning to play jazz. You can explore tunes by genres and then study them all individually. There are play-a-longs, suggested listening, and information about most tunes. This is a phenomenal resource!

Maarten Vonk of the Netherlands webpage. Maarten is one of the leading experts in bassoon knowledge and repairing. He has many resources on his page for troubleshooting, tuning, purchasing double reeds and used instruments, and even has a free download of a book on the history and development of the bassoon! A great resource for bassoonists!

Sax Pics is similar to Clarinet Perfection, just with less written information. It has lots of serial number lists and pictures of many makes and models of saxophones, but it does lack detailed information about makes and models, and especially differences.

Steve Goodson is probably one of the more innovative saxophone minds in the industry as of late. He's into everything - including mouthpieces, necks, octave pips, key clamps, sax mutes, and even makes his own saxophones. Steve has led the way in many innovations that are now commonplace on many top models. Sax Gourmet is a also a great resource for vintage sax values and tutorials on mouthpiece refacing and overhauling saxophones. Tim Price is a fantastic saxophone (and clarinet, bassoon, flute, etc) player. He is based primarily in the Philadelphia area and has been playing with big names and publishing materials for wind players for years. If you have any small collection of jazz saxophone materials, there is a good chance you may have a book or transcription collection from Tim. He has a lot of free download material and resources on his webpage. It's definitely worth a look!

This is an interesting resource. The blog looks like it hasn't been updated in a while, but there are some great links, resources, and a ton of solo transcriptions! For the jazz fan who does not transcribe, this is a fantastic resource. Personally, I love to play transcriptions - even if I didn't do the transcribing myself.

The solo reviews section can give you some great guidance for finding a piece to work on. Describes a musical work and tells you the range.

Every Trumpet player's homepage! Everyday new content is added, much in the way of videos. Not only are there a ton of free resources, apps, videos, and more, but there are free downloads of the entire Arban's Book for free! Although the site is focused on trumpet players, all brass players will find content for their instruments.

The page for the NMM has lots of pictures of many different historical instruments! A neat resource and probably a fun place to visit if you ever find yourself in Vermillion, South Dakota!
